With what is surely one of the best settings for a lodge in Nambiti if not Southern Africa, Esiweni offers you breathtaking views over looking the Nambiti reserve. Set against a clifftop it has panoramic views into the distance with the Sunday River beneath it.

This 5 star luxury game Lodge is a small elegant establishment with Colonial Safari Theme running through it's decor. There are large, stone fireplaces that warm the lounge and dining areas during the cold nights in winter and in summer meals are served in the fire lit Boma or on occasion out in the bush.

There are 5 individual suites, each with magnificent views ( even from the comfort of the bath ), an indoor shower and a private, outdoor shower. Two of the suites are interconnected for use as a family unit.
Each suite has under floor heating for cold winter nights and overhead fans for warm, summer evenings. Our honeymoon suite has a private, outdoor bath with stunning views across the valley.

Fully retracting patio doors open onto private decks where you can enjoy the majestic views of the Sundays River, waterfall and valley below.
During good weather, outdoor dining overlooking the valley is served on the vast, wooden deck.

An intercom system is in place to connect each suite to the lodge staff in case of emergencies. Safes are also provided.

    There are 5 luxury suites all connected to the main lodge by intercom should an emergency arise.
    While each suite has a bath which has beautiful views across the valley below, The Honeymoon Suite has a private, outdoor bath which really does the make the most it. All suites have underfloor heating for the colder winter months and ceiling fans for the summer months.
    Fully opening patio doors lead onto your private deck.

The Lodge
This elegant lodge has a colonial safari theme running through it and prides itself in attention to detail and excellent service. It also offers French and German speaking staff at hand to help you.
Large, stone fireplaces in the lounge and dining areas keep you warm in the winters and in summer and warmer weather meals are taken outdoors, on the large wooden deck overlooking the valley or in the Boma.
There is also a deck with a rim-flow swimming pool for you to relax at in the afternoons
Delicious meals with a large range of excellent South African wines on offer are served in the outdoor boma whilst a private dinner in their intimate wine cellar can be arranged. The Camp is unfenced

The Spa
The famous Maison PAYOT is now offered at Esiweni Lodge and offers you a unique relaxation experience in the middle of the bush.
Those early morning Game Drives and long lazy breakfasts sure can take it out of you So what better way to pamper your self than to let the massage therapists pamper you in the comfort of your suite or on your private terrace.

Children on Game drives
Kindly note that children 12 yrs and under are welcome to join us on our game drives, however; these drives will not be allowed within 50 meters of a big five sighting. Depending on the maturity of the children, this will also be at the discretion of the game ranger at the time of the siting.

Arrival
Please advise your Nambiti.info reservations agent or Esiweni Lodge if your arrival time is going to differ from the one you completed on your booking form.
One arrival at Elandslaagte Monument gate and after filling on your arrival form you will be directed to the parking area where your Esiweni Lodge Guide will come and fetch you. You are entering a big 5 Game reserve, please drive carefully and be responsible if you happen on any sightings on your way to the parking.
You will be transported by Game Viewer by your Game Ranger to the Lodge.

Daily Timetable

All times are approximate and are dependent on weather and seasonal sunset and sunrise times. Visiting groups that are large enough to use one Game viewer together can further customise the times to suit themselves.

Arrive anytime from 13H00.

Game drives are at about 15h00 in winter. In summer they leave a bit later usually at 16h00

Dinner in winter is at around 19h30 and a bit later in summer

In Winter, morning coffee is at about 06h30 with your game drive departing at about 07h00.
In Summer your game drive will be about an hour earlier

Breakfast in Summer is at about 09h00 and about an hour later in winter.

Please be ready to leave your room by 11H00 hours and to be transferred to your vehicle by 12h00

Cancellation / Prepayment

A 50% deposit is required to confirm your accommodation. The balance is to be paid 35 days prior to your stay

  • 14 days to 30 days prior to arrival : 50% cancellation fee
  • 14 days or less - prior to arrival : 100% cancellation fee

Child Policy

No Children under 6 years of age please. The Camp is not fenced so children need to be with adults at all times while walking around the camp area.

Parking

Visitors vehicles are to be left at the dedicated secure parking areas near the gate that they entered the reserve through. You will be picked up by and dropped off there by your game ranger.

It is preferable that guests phone ahead when they get to Ladysmith so that they not have any waiting time at the Reserve parking area. When you arrive at the North Gate you will have to sign the reserve indemnity. The gate guard will contact the lodge via the radio and your Ranger will come and fetch you from the parking area If however you have phoned from Ladysmith, which is preferable, then the field guide from ESIWENI will already be waiting for you at the visitors’ car park when you arrive.

Directions from Johannesburg

Head for Ladysmith on the N3. Once you have entered KwaZulu Natal via Van Reenen, look out for the Ladysmith Toll off-ramp (at the bottom of Van Reenen's Pass).Turn left and drive toward Ladysmith on the R103.
When you arrive in Ladysmith, drive straight through the town, following the N11 Road to Newcastle.
Follow the N11 through Ladysmith and continue on this road. From the last traffic light (Ezakeni Crossing) leaving Ladysmith, travel 20.1km to the Glencoe/Dundee turnoff)
Ignore the first signs that say Nambiti as these will lead you to the South Gate. Wait until you see the sign that says Elandslaagte and then turn right. You will then be on the Glencoe Dundee R602. Travel for 2.3 km.
Turn right at the Elandslaagte (Memorial) sign. P555 (gravel road).Cross the railway line - follow the Elandslaagte (Memorial) sign for 200m, then turn left following the Elandslaagte (Memorial) sign.
Drive 3.8 km to Nambiti north gate, which is just after the Elandslaagte Monument

Directions from Durban

Head for Ladysmith on the N3 - Take the Ladysmith / Bergville Toll Off Ramp.
Turn Right and head for Ladysmith, drive straight through Ladysmith on the N11 Road towards Newcastle.
Follow the N11 through Ladysmith and continue on this road. . From the last traffic light leaving Ladysmith, travel 20.1km to the Glencoe/Dundee turnoff)
