Springbok Lodge Reviews

I think it must be one of the best value lodge options around.

Excellent value for money and they do not charge a single supplement, so if there is someone on his own or a group with an odd number even if they are in their own room there is no extra charge.

Springbok Lodge is in a fantastic location near Ladysmith.
The lodge is easily accessible from Durban and Joburg.
It’s a good option as a stop over point or also as combo with the Drakensberg (Northern Berg) or even battlefields.

The accommodation is in luxury safari tents, well appointed with big bathroom and outdoor shower.
There are 14 tents all a distance away from each other, so complete privacy.
Each has a deck overlooking the valley.

There are excellent conference facilities and they also do team building through a specialist in the area. The main area has a big comfy lounge with big fire place for cold nights and a pub.
There is a boma for evening dinners or if it is cold dinners are served inside.

The food is amazing - I think I had the best meal I've had in a long time.
Top of the range gourmet dinners are served as well as a big breakfast.

Game drives are good, there is a diversity of terrain you go through, from open grasslands to thick bush and valleys and hills. You will see waterfalls and rivers on your drive.

Interesting history to the area as well with Anglo Boer battles having taken place on the reserve and some remnants of trenches and old arms trading stores still around. There is a memorial for the boers who lost there lives in the battle of Elandslagte.

Good game for this big 5 reserve. You are likely to see a lot of general plains game, rhino, hippo, giraffe, elephant, buffalo, jackal and cheetah (they have a healthy population of cheetah and are usually seen over a 2 day stay which is very unique).  The reserve is only 3 years old, so is still establishing itself a little - but massive potential.

I really could not fault the place and highly recommend it.
