While Springbok Lodge may be a tented camp, please don't be think you'll be having Boy Scout or Girl Guide camping flashbacks.
The 21 Luxury tents have all the amenities any game lodge would be more than proud to have. Each tent has an air conditioner for those really hot days in the summer and for winters the beds are fitted with electric blankets to ensure you are always comfortable

There are two game drives daily, One in the morning and one in the evening but if you are in the mood for a mid day activity, speak to your game ranger on check in and enquire about a spot of fishing or one of the other activities that may be on offer.

There are 21 Air-conditioned Luxury Tents with their own balcony Each has an outdoor shower and can be made up with either a King Size bed or with Twin beds on request.
2 Tents are available for Wheelchair bound clients or those with mobility issues and are located just next to the main lodge. The Tents and lodge area are fenced from the Reserve.

General

If you're going on a safari, your should be staying in a tent. If you're going to stay in a tent, you may as well stay in a luxury one! Originally started by the great Springbok Rugby players and Rugby World cup winners, John Smit and Percy Montgomery, Springbok Lodge was the first Safari camp in Nambiti to have luxury tents.
The tents are split into 8 family inter-leading tents and 13 doubles. They are all raised on platforms with hardwood floors throughout. Inside you'll find a standalone bath, comfortable bedding, en suite facilities which lead to an outside shower, The tents are spaced far enough apart to ensure privacy and a sense of your own space.

The Lodge
Springbok Lodge is now a fenced Camp with an electric fence to keep strolling humans from bumping into visiting Elephant, Buffalo, Lion and other visitors from the animal kingdom

Children on Game drives
Kindly note that children 12yrs and under are welcome to join us on our game drives, however; these drives will not be allowed within 50 meters of a big five sighting. Depending on the maturity of the children, this will also be at the discretion of the game ranger at the time of the siting.
** smaller children must remain quiet on drives so as to not inconvenience other guests and other game drives. Unruly behavior will not be tolerated and may result in the game drive returning to the lodge and then continuing without the children and their parents.

Arrival
Please advise your Nambiti.info reservations agent or Springbok Lodge if your arrival time is going to differ from the one you completed on your booking form.
One arrival at Woodlands gate and after filling on your arrival form you will be directed to the parking area where your Springbok Lodge Guide will come and fetch you. You are entering a big 5 Game reserve, please drive carefully and be responsible if you happen on any sightings on your way to the parking.
You will be transported by Game Viewer by your Game Ranger to the Lodge.

Daily Timetable

All times are approximate and are dependent on weather and seasonal sunset and sunrise times. Visiting groups that are large enough to use one Game viewer together can further customise the times to suit themselves.

Arrive anytime from 12H00. Lunch is at 1 pm and and you can check into your tents from 14h00 hours

Game drives are at about 15h00 in winter. In summer they leave a bit later usually at 16h00

Dinner in winter is at around 19h30 and a bit later in summer

In Winter, morning coffee is at about 06h30 with your game drive departing at about 07h00. In Summer your game drive will be about an hour earlier

Breakfast in Summer is at about 09h00 and about an hour later in winter.

Check-out

Please be ready to leave your tent by 11H00 hours and to be transferred to your vehicle by 12h00

Cancellation / Prepayment

A 50% deposit is required to confirm your accommodation. The balance is to be paid 35 days prior to your stay

  • More than 30 days prior to arrival : 10% cancellation fee
  • 14 days to 30 days prior to arrival : 50% cancellation fee
  • 14 days or less - prior to arrival : 100% cancellation fee

Children on Game Drives
Children Under the age of 13 years of age are welcome to join game drives but there may be a 50m Big 5 sighting approach limit at the Rangers discretion if you he feels it may not be safe to go closer.
** smaller children must remain quiet on drives so as to not inconvenience other guests and other game drives. If the Rangers feels that children are inconvenience other guests or other game drives, or endangering themselves or the other guests by their behavior this may result in the game drive returning to the lodge and then continuing without these children and their parents.

Your Luxury Tent

Game viewing in open vehicles affords guests the opportunity of viewing fauna and flora, whilst traversing the undulating hills, following river courses and open savanna plains. The reserve is well stocked with lion, leopard, cheetah, wild dog, rhino, elephant, zebra, giraffe and plenty of other mammals, birds and trees

Parking

Visitors vehicles are to be left at the dedicated secure parking areas near the gate that they entered the reserve through. You will be picked up by and dropped off there by your game ranger.

Directions from Johannesburg

Charter flights can fly into the reserve landing strip where the guests will be collected and transferred to the lodge which is a 45 minute ( Bonus Game )drive.

Head for Ladysmith on the N3. Once you have entered KwaZulu Natal via Van Reenen, look out for the Ladysmith Toll off-ramp (at the bottom of Van Reenen's Pass.
Turn left and drive toward Ladysmith on the R103. When you arrive in Ladysmith, drive straight through, following the N11 Road to Newcastle. From the last traffic lights leaving Ladysmith travel for ± 7kms.
Turn Right onto the D45 Road, follow for ± 10Km’s, at the T-Junction turn right, travel along side the game fence for 4 Km until you reach the gate-house which is staffed.

Directions from Durban

Head for Ladysmith on the N3 – Take the Ladysmith / Bergville Toll Off Ramp. Turn Right and head for Ladysmith, drive straight through Ladysmith on the N11 Road towards Newcastle from the last robots leaving Ladysmith travel for ± 7kms. Turn Right onto the D45 Road, follow for ± 10Km’s, at at the T-Junction turn right, travel along side the game fence for 4 Km until you reach the gate-house which is staffed.
