About Ndaka Safari Lodge

Ndaka lodge has 7 spacious luxury tents and 3 Luxury family tents, all overlooking the Nambiti reserve. Animals can often be seen from the lounge area of your tent as they graze in the veld.
For couples the tents have a large lounge area which can then be made up for families with 2 or even 3 children easily fitting into the tent alongside the King size bed in the Main bedroom.

There are also rooms available in the main lodge, which is the original old Farmhouse on the Ndaka property. There are 3 standard rooms, 2 of which can be combined to make a family room with an inter leading door.

There are two game drives daily and if that isn't enough you can ask for a fishing trip in the middle of the day as well! What we enjoyed was having a short afternoon drive and then going out on a night drive. You are not always guaranteed great sightings on the night drive but it gives you a different perspective and shows a fascinating aspect of bushlife at night.

The tents are all equipped with electric blankets on the beds as well as heaters to keep you snug in winter and ceiling fans to cool you down in summer. The 6 luxury safari tents overlook the Nambiti plains and a small waterhole in front of the lodge. The tents are large enough to have 3 adults or 2 adults and 2 or 3 children can have single beds.

Meals times are relaxed and sociable with continental breakfasts served buffet-style either in the lapa or under the tree in the garden after the morning game drive. A cooked breakfast is also available, prepared according to guests’ preferences.

A light lunch is served in the lapa at the buffet table.

Dinner is a 3- course affair in the lapa or around a blazing fire (weather permitting). Soft drinks, spirits, malts and wines are also available from the bar.

    Activities at Ndaka Lodge

  • Two scheduled Safaris (game drives) are included in the rate pppn. (maximum of 10 guests per game viewer)

Children and Game Drives at Nambiti, Ndaka Lodge

Ndaka really goes out of it's way to make sure young children are felt included in everything from meal times to game drives. It really is a true family wilderness destination for those travelling with children.

Whilst kids sleep in the same tent, they have their own section to one side with the choice of single beds or camp-cots and don't feel "squeezed in". This is due to the large size of the tents that Ndaka use. The gardens and grounds are fenced in and there is plenty space for kids to work off their excess energy without getting in the way of other guests. The large indigenous garden provides plenty of space for the kids to play everything from their favourite sports, hide-‘n-seek, trampoline and in Summer, the swimming pool

POLICY REGARDING CHILDREN ON GAME DRIVES

Children aged 4 years and younger are welcomed on game drives. Car seats available for younger children but parents need to be sensitive and aware of the sometimes unpredictable behaviour of the wild animals.
Safety is paramount and generally these drives will not be allowed within 50 meters of a Big 5 sighting. This is however at the sole discretion of the ranger at the time of the sighting.

Guests with children of similar ages will travel together on game viewers but in the event of this not being possible, then parents are requested to be considerate of other guests also enjoying their experience in the bush.
Children must remain quiet on drives so as to not inconvenience other guests on the vehicle as well as other guests on other game drives.

Your Day at Ndaka

Your day will start with a wake up call between 05h00 – 05h30 depending on the season (Later in winter).
Warm up with a hot drink before heading out for your morning Game Drive. Blankets are provided if it is still a bit chilly.
During winter, warm jackets will be needed to keep the cold at bay while sitting on the back of the Land Cruiser, looking out for the wild life.

Enjoy a morning break at one of the view points, with a muffin and a hot drink
A hot breakfast will be ready for you on your return to the lodge.

After breakfast you can choose to catch up on sleep, read a book round the pool or relax outside your tent and watch for game.
The kids may want to go and do a spot of Bass fishing in one of the waterholes around the reserve. Try and pre book this as soon as you check in. ( Not always available )

A light lunch is served at around 1.30

Your afternoon game drive will depart between 4 and 4.30 depending on the season and will return shortly after nightfall depending on sightings.
A suitable spot will be found during the drive to enjoy some snacks and sundowners. A great moment to enjoy the quiet of the bush before night falls and brings it's own sounds of wildlife, bird calls and insect noises

Dinner is served between 19h00 and 19h30 but is always fun to get together round the fire pit or at the bar and recount stories with fellow guests and share your bush experiences with them.
